Sweet name, Felix Sylvester. Double cartoon cat name!
And actually, in Latin, the species for wildcat is “felis silvestris” (from where both those cartoon cats took their names, respectively).
And more weird things: Wikipedia describes Sylvester the Cat as “a three-time Academy Award-winning anthropomorphic Tuxedo cat.” Well, at least he doesn’t have to keep spending gobs of money on tux rentals for the Oscar ceremonies.
And the very first image ever broadcast on television during experiments in New York in 1928 was a 13-inch Felix the Cat figurine—used because it was black and white and could stand the intense heat from the lighting.
